COOL4Ed (the California Open Online Library for Education) was created so that faculty can easily find, adopt, utilize, review and/or modify free and open eTextbooks for little or no cost. COOL4Ed eTextbook evaluations were conducted to inform faculty, staff, and students how the eTextbooks meet accessibility requirements that could impact the learning of students with disabilities.
Accessibility Evaluations
Evaluations were conducted on eTextbooks published in PDF, HTML and EPUB formats, using both assistive and non-assistive technologies. The tools used for these evaluations include Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Adobe Digital Editions, Windows Narrator, NVDA, Kurzweil 3000, the Colour Contrast Analyser, and Google Chrome extensions Care Your Eyes and Select and Speak.
